Parade of Homes 2019: 4 Awards

It was a successful Columbus Day Weekend at the Parade of Homes 2019 for Lighthouse Contracting Group and Lauren Milligan Design, LLC. With a 23% increase in traffic to the 11 homes featured in this year’s event, some homes saw close to 1,000 visitors.

HOUSE #4: THE REFUGE

This was our second year in the event. We were house number 4, The Refuge, in Gilford, New Hampshire. A few of our favorite features include:

  • Lake facing windows showcasing a gorgeous view of Lake Winnipesaukee.
  • 1935 restored Chris-Craft turned into a one-of-a kind bar top.
  • Raised cathedral ceilings in the first floor common area.
  • Lakefront curb appeal.

The Refuge was the designated location for the Parade of Homes Show. The film crew interviewed the 11 competing builders for an upcoming pilot season. The home owners were hesitant to allow the filming, high traffic and publicity as they are private people. Overall, we had 883 visitors over the course of the holiday weekend! We are thankful the home owners provided us this wonderful opportunity to show off their home.

EVALUATION & AWARDS

Three independent judges tour each of the homes looking for exceptional craftsmanship. For the exterior, they look at curb appeal, exterior house lines, color coordination, exterior living space and orientation on the lot. For the interior, they look at use of natural and artificial lighting, originality, floor plan, space and creativity. In the kitchen, overall layout, counterspace and storage, use of technology and traffic flow are key areas of the competition. The highest number of points in each category are tallied up and a winner for Best In Class is chosen.

There is also a People’s Choice Award, which is chosen by the Parade of Homes visitors. They are asked to vote for a home that stands out from the rest.

Lighthouse Contracting Group and Lauren Milligan Design, LLC brought home four awards this year. We proudly accepted the following:

  1. Best Bath
  2. Best Interior Design
  3. Best Floor Plan
  4. Best In-Class Remodeled Home
