Skilled Carpenter

Lighthouse Contracting Group    Lakes Region / Greater Gilford, NH  •

Full-Time (W2) — qualified 1099 subs welcome too

Wanted: a carpenter who measures in 16ths, cuts once, and gets a little offended by a proud nail head.

Lighthouse Contracting Group builds custom homes and remodels around the Lakes Region, and our reputation gets rebuilt every day — one tight miter, one clean jobsite, one happy homeowner at a time. We’re looking for a Skilled Carpenter who takes that personally.

This isn’t a “warm body with a tool belt” posting. We’re a tight, motivated crew with real systems, real mentorship, and zero tolerance for chaos jobsites. If you’ve been carrying a disorganized company on your back, come see what it’s like when the materials are actually onsite when you need them.

One more thing: we’re hiring for a full-time W2 spot first and foremost — but if you’re a well-qualified 1099 independent contractor with your own insurance and the skills to back it up, we’d like to hear from you too. Same standards, same clean jobsites.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Rough and finish carpentry on high-end residential remodels — framing to trim, windows to built-ins.
  • Read real blueprints (plan, elevation, section) and build exactly what’s on them.
  • Work with a Project Manager who handles the client circus so you can build.
  • Keep a jobsite so clean the homeowner brags about it to the neighbors.
  • Level up through our 50 Skills Checklist with a dedicated Head Carpenter & Mentor. Yes, we actually train people. On purpose.

You Might Be Our Carpenter If…

  • You can add fractions on a tape measure in your head and it slightly annoys you when others can’t.
  • You know why a 23-gauge pin exists, and when a 15-gauge is the wrong answer.
  • You scribe to the wave in a 100-year-old wall instead of caulking your sins away.
  • You’d rather flag a problem today than hide it behind drywall forever.
  • You have a driver’s license, dependable transportation (truck preferred), and your own hand and cordless tools.
  • You’ve got 10+ years in residential remodeling and construction, and the work to prove it.
  • If you’re applying as a 1099 sub: you carry your own liability insurance (workers’ comp where required), and you run your business as professionally as you run your saw.

What We’re Not

  • Not a “figure it out alone” shop — you’ll have a PM, a Lead PM, a mentor, and a safety officer in your corner.
  • Not a production-line tract builder — this is custom work in real people’s homes.
  • Not disorganized — schedules live in JobTread, materials show up, and everyone knows who holds the baton.

The Money & The Perks

For full-time W2 employees:

  • $29–$35/hr, based on experience and skill level.
  • $3,900 sign-on bonus ($325 after month one, $325 monthly thereafter).
  • 6 Paid holidays plus your birthday and vacation time.
  • SIMPLE IRA with company match + profit sharing.
  • $455/mo. Health insurance stipend.
  • A crew that actually likes each other, and a company that promotes from within.

For 1099 independent contractors: competitive rates based on skill and scope, steady work with a builder that pays on time, and jobsites where the materials are there and the plan is clear.

How to Apply

Fill out our application form — it takes about 10 minutes and includes a skills check. This helps let us know you’re a true pro and are serious. If you can invest the time to read, understand and follow instructions, we really want to talk to you. (W2 or 1099 — same application, just tell us which you are.)

Project Manager

Lighthouse Contracting Group    Lakes Region / Greater Gilford, NH    Full-Time

Wanted: a Project Manager who owns the job like their name is on the mailbox — and sleeps fine at night because nothing is lingering.

Lighthouse Contracting Group builds custom homes and remodels around the Lakes Region, and our reputation gets rebuilt every day — one on-time schedule, one accurate budget, one homeowner who actually enjoyed their remodel at a time. We’re looking for a Project Manager who takes that personally.

Here’s how it works around here: when a project hits production, the PM holds the baton. All of it. Every question, every RFI, every PO and CO, every budget line in JobTread — it runs through you. That’s not pressure, that’s clarity. No committee, no confusion, no “who was supposed to order that?” You own it, and everyone — clients, trades, vendors, designers — knows exactly who to call.

This isn’t a “warm body with a clipboard” posting. We’re a tight, motivated crew with real systems, real support, and zero tolerance for chaos jobsites. If you’ve been duct-taping a disorganized company together with your own personal heroics, come see what it’s like when selections are ordered, files are ready, and the handoff actually happens — deliberately, in front of the client, baton in hand.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Own everything during active construction on your projects — schedule, site logistics, client communication, quality. Full stop.
  • Be the single point of contact for clients from kickoff to completion. Proactive updates, honest conversations, no surprises.
  • Own POs and Change Orders. Delegate the task if you want — never the responsibility. Hard standard: executed within 1 week, period.
  • Own the budget in JobTread: budget vs. actual, anticipated costs, variances flagged early — numbers that tell the real story of the job.
  • Coordinate foremen, crews, and trade partners so everyone knows what’s next and the materials are there when they need them.
  • Enforce quality like it’s your own house — catch deviations early, keep jobsites clean, safe, and brag-worthy.
  • Work alongside a Lead PM and an Operations Manager who handle oversight and pre-production, so you can run the job — not chase paperwork from three months ago.

You Might Be Our PM If…

  • You physically cannot let a Change Order “sit for a bit.” It bothers you. Good.
  • You’d rather deliver awkward news today than a bigger problem next week.
  • Clients calm down when you pick up the phone — because you always pick up the phone.
  • A budget that’s “probably close” makes your eye twitch. Yours are current, accurate, and defensible.
  • You’re solutions-minded: you show up with the fix, not just the problem.
  • You live within 45 minutes of Gilford, NH — this is a boots-on-site role, not a Zoom job.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Residential remodeling experience preferred — you know what’s behind the drywall of a 100-year-old lake house, and it doesn’t scare you.
  • Project management software experience is a huge plus (we live in JobTread — schedules, budgets, daily logs, all of it).

What We’re Not

  • Not a “figure it out alone” shop — you’ll have a Lead PM in your corner and an Operations Manager who tees up every project before it ever lands in your lap.
  • Not a production-line tract builder — this is custom work in real people’s homes, where the details matter and the clients notice.
  • Not disorganized — schedules live in JobTread, selections are ordered before kickoff, and everyone knows who holds the baton.

The Money & The Perks

  • $35/hr starting pay, with earning potential of $40/hr after our 6-month onboarding process.
  • $10,000 in sign-on bonuses — $7,500 paid after 90 days, another $2,500 at 6 months.

After 90 days:

  • $455/mo. health insurance stipend.
  • SIMPLE IRA with up to 3% company match.
  • Company phone, truck & gas card.
  • 6 paid holidays plus your birthday and vacation time.

After 6 months:

  • Eligible for our Phantom Stock profit sharing plan — 5% annually, estimated at $30,000. Yes, you read that right.
  • A crew that actually likes each other, and a company that promotes from within.

How to Apply

Fill out our application form — it takes about 10 minutes and includes a skills check. This helps let us know you’re a true pro and are serious. If you can invest the time to read, understand and follow instructions, we really want to talk to you. (Consider it your first RFI — respond promptly.)
