A PRIMARY SUITE FOR HIM AND HER

The Success Story

The clients for this project wanted to redesign their current space to optimize functionality and efficiency in their daily lives. From added storage and heated bathroom floors to easy to clean engineered flooring and a custom built hickory gate, the client’s goal was to make life easier while living in their home. Our skilled Lighthouse tradesman worked closely with Lauren Milligan Design and the other subcontractors, to bring their vision to light.

Highlights/Project Overview

With the primary suite a priority to these clients, the space was reconfigured to include his and her closets, a custom tile shower, and fitted with modern day conveniences to boost functionality. With this reconfiguration, the need for storage was answered by filling the balcony overlook’s dead space and creating usable storage. Three reach in closets were designed and custom built specifically for each desired use. The entire second floor got new engineered multi width flooring with matching hickory floor registers to tie all the spaces together. A new staircase was installed with a mitered skirt board with hickory nosings, treads, scotia, and a new handrail adorned with black square metal balusters. To make life easier with dogs and grandchildren around, a convenient, custom built hickory gate that matched the flooring and railings, was installed. A soft open and close pocket slider was installed to avoid doors slamming. To improve the energy efficiency of the home, all remaining original windows were updated.

Primary Suite

The primary bedroom was reimagined to create more usable space and incorporate modern day conveniences to make living in the space easier. By reconfiguring the bathroom, these clients were able to get custom built his and hers closets; one walk in and one reach in. Getting rid of the whirlpool jacuzzi tub allowed for a new custom tile shower with a bench. All of the bathroom venting was updated, and a Schluter heated tile floor and humidistats were installed. The bathroom featured mitered shiplap around the perimeter of the space, a custom mirror with lighting and a custom niche with shelves. Night light outlets were installed by the toilet as well as the entry to the primary suite. In the bedroom, bedside reading lamps were installed on the walls and the tv was mounted on the wall to create a sleek look.
